Recognizing Sleep Apnea Symptoms

Have you ever woken up feeling a pressure in the back of your head, and your mouth tends to feel like sandpaper? A lot of times, these slight symptoms can get overlooked because they go away fairly quickly after we've woken up. These are common symptoms of Sleep apnea, and they often go unnoticed. Sleep apnea is a significant condition that causes interruptions in breathing during sleep. It can also present as very shallow breathing during sleep, and it's crucial to recognize the symptoms so you can seek treatment. Some of those symptoms include the following:

Morning headaches:

Having a headache when you wake up is a widespread symptom.

Difficulty concentrating:

Having memory issues, lack of focus, or poor concentration during daily tasks.

Irritability:

Mood changes and irritability are common due to poor sleep quality.

Having a dry mouth when waking up:

This could be because people breathe through their mouth while sleeping.

Frequent urination at night:

The need to urinate frequently during the night (nocturia) can disrupt sleep.

Restless sleep:

Tossing and turning, waking up frequently during the night.

It's important to note that not all people with sleep apnea will experience the full range of symptoms, and the severity of any of these symptoms could vary widely from person to person.
