Birding with Seniors

Birding with Seniors

One of my favourite activities to do with seniors is bird watching, or also known as “birding.” It is something you can do if you’re healthy and able but is also great for those who may have some health concerns and are not able to get up and go as easily. You can bird watch from the comforts of your home by putting bird feeders outside your windows. Research the type of seed the bird you’d like to attract will eat to have better chances of them coming closer to your home. There are also many places in Prince Edward County you can go to see some spectacular sights while birding. Make sure you’re steady on your feet before venturing the wooded parts of our conservation areas and parks.

Occasionally we like to go birding in our own backyard to see and learn about the different types of birds surrounding the MLP Residence. If you’re looking for something peaceful to do, take a walk and look around to see how many different types of birds you can find. Its amazing what you can see when you stop and look around for a moment during the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
