CEO’s Message

As you all are aware, our limited visitation policies have been in effect since mid-March. We are so appreciative of everyone’s cooperation, patience and support during a very challenging and unprecedented situation. I am happy to state that MLP Residence has now launched its Phased Re-Opening Plan and we are ready to relax some, but not all, of our operational protocols. Commencing today, we are welcoming family members and friends to visit their loved ones at MLP Residence, with certain guidelines and restrictions in place. This comes at a time when Ontario commences its phased re-opening of public spaces and services, in the coming several weeks.

Prince Edward County has entered Stage 2 of re-opening and is now welcoming tourists and visitors. As the County opens its facilities and parks to tourists, the threat of community spread of the virus is now even greater. MLP Residence continues to closely monitor this situation with statistical data and assistance from our health care partners and authorities including PHO, MSAA and RHRA. The time has not yet come for us at MLP to let our guard down. We are almost at the finish line… but not quite there.

I am deeply grateful for the dedication and compassion that our team has exhibited over the past three months while performing their duties in a heroic manner. Every member of the MLP team continues to provide excelling care and services to our residents under extraordinary circumstances. Over this period, we are proud to say that the MLP team has taken charge to ensure that everyone at MLP remains protected and healthy, without a single case of COVID-19 affecting our Community.

As always, our highest priority remains the protection and safety of our residents and team members. We continue to implement stringent infection prevention and control protocols and have appropriate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safeguard our team. Some of the safety protocols which remain in place are:

  • While in-room dining remains in place, for those residents who wish to continue to receive their meals in the privacy of their own suites, Ambrosia is now offering “social distance dining” for groups of 10 at a time.
  • Resident engagement and social activities have resumed for groups of 9 or less, while maintaining social distancing protocols. All MLP Team Members continue to wear masks and respect social distancing requirements.
  • Elevator use is now restricted to no more than two people at a time.
  • Resident temperature checks will continue to occur twice a day, as per directives.
  • Essential visitor restrictions will remain, requiring those who meet the criteria to enter the building at the main entrance and pass the screening questions.
  • Team Member screening and PPE protocols will continue.
  • Family visitation currently shall be limited to the designated visitation area only.

Staying in touch and connected with loved ones is a priority for all of us at MLP Residence. With so much happening so quickly, it is now more important than ever to have reliable and trusted sources of information. Hence, our General Manager continues to share updates through her weekly emails and phone calls to all residents’ families. If you have further questions pertaining to our operations or the care your loved one is receiving, please do not hesitate to reach out – as we are committed to transparency and the sharing of information.

We remain dedicated to our residents, your loved ones. Again, I wish to take this opportunity to thank the residents, families and our team for their support, cooperation and patience over the past three months.

We will continue to implement local and provincial rules, guidelines and directives as we proceed through our Phased Re-Opening Plan. The safety and well-being of our residents and team is always our top priority, and we’ll continue to do everything in our power to provide the best possible engagement and support for them. It’s been a difficult period, but we’re excited to take proactive and socially distanced measures as we move towards normal operations.

Thank you for being a part of the MLP Family.
